1. Text Link Adverts

Search engines view quality ‘inbound’ or ‘one way back-links’ like references or votes of confidence for your business. The more links or votes there are for your site, the more credible the search engines will view your website. Your site needs as many quality one-way back links going to it as possible if you are to maximise where your site pages are ranked within the search engines. Ideally, you want your pages to feature on Page 1 of Google, Yahoo and Bing naturally. It is essential that you have links to such pages to achieve this.

1.1 So what makes a good quality link?

A link which is relevant and which comes from another website of authority from near your locality, is the best type of link for helping your own website rankings.

1.1.1 Relevancy

Websites in your sector or with content relevant to your company, product or services will normally be viewed as relevant by search engines. They will therefore be more likely to count the link as a genuine one. For example, if Al Gore’s Climate Crisis Site linked to EcoSwitch that would be helpful to EcoSwitch. The link we have just created on the word Climate Crisis is an example of a link that is helpful to Al Gore’s Climate Crisis site.

1.1.2 Authority Websites

With authority tend to have a Google Page rank of at least 3 or 4 and at least 10,000 unique visitors per month. Any site with a higher page rank or more visitors will be a bonus.
Search engines will improve the rankings of individual pages on your site that have high page rank links going to them. This is why, if you install the Google Page Rank Tool in your browser (or it is inbuilt automatically in Chrome), you will see some pages on sites have lower page ranks than others. The higher the page rank, the higher the importance that Google places on the page. Websites like Facebook, Twitter and Google themselves all have Page Ranks of 9 or 10.

1.1.3 Locality

Note, it is particularly helpful getting links from sites that are hosted in the same country where your own site is hosted. Maximum credit is given by the search engine ranking algorithms to links from sites hosted in your own country. That isn’t to say a site linking to yours from another country won’t be beneficial. It just means it has slightly less importance.

If you type in their preferred keywords 'Economist Sustainability Summit' or 'Economist Sustainability Summit 2010', the review should come up. We do an annual review of their event for them and have done for the past two years. 3. Pay Per Click Google Adwords and On-line Marketing Strategy

Without investment in a comprehensive and micro-managed Pay Per Click (PPC) marketing campaign, the number of visitors to your website will always be limited. A number of strategies and tools are used to bring your site the right kind of demographic traffic through major Search Engine Networks including but not exclusive to Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Miva.

3.1 Initial Key-Word Research

To achieve this, a large but specific collection of eco related Key-Words and phrases that potential searchers in your target market would use to find your ecological products and/or ethical services will be utilized.

After completing the keyword research, adverts will be designed to incorporate the keywords. We look at what the competition are using in terms of advert creative and then improve upon it.

Even though Optimisation is a continual and daily activity, it is important that the Initial KeyWord Research be complete before any major changes are made. Once complete the first phase of optimisation will be carried out. This phase is predominantly concerned with the removal of the most wasteful or unproductive Key Phrases being used. This will allow for the Pay per Click budget to be focused more on what has actually proven to work.
